About
The Amboy Runway (Route 66) is a project inspired by Matt Guthmiller video how he landed on the Route 66 highway to eat at a gas station and another pilot randomly landed at the same spot. I thought this was so amazing to see, so I thought I'd try and recreate this small area apart of Route 66.
In real-life, this runway actually exists at the Roy's Motel Cafe on Route 66 or more commonly known as the Amboy Airfield. It features a dirt runway (no lights) and has 1 hangar with a windsock on top of it (just in case if you catch bad weather you can park inside of it). Amboy is mostly a ghost town though it has a gas station and a restaurant where flyers come in from all over the country to visit, eat and see other pilots. With this recreation players can now do the same thing real-life pilots do when they fly into this area for plane meetups at this gas station.
Fun fact, it's one of Harrison Ford's favorite stops to fly into.
